A leading and well-established mechanical building services contractor based in Colchester is looking to recruit an Intermediate Mechanical Estimator to join their experienced estimating team. This role is ideal for someone with mechanical or building services exposure who is looking to develop a long-term career in estimating within a supportive and structured environment.

The Role

Working alongside senior estimators, you will assist in the preparation of tenders for a range of commercial and industrial mechanical projects, with values up to £3.5 million. You’ll receive hands-on training, mentorship, and clear progression opportunities as you grow into a fully-fledged estimator.

Key responsibilities:

• Assisting with the preparation of mechanical cost estimates and tenders.

• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.

• Helping to obtain and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations.

• Producing take-offs and pricing schedules.

• Supporting value engineering and cost planning exercises.

• Assisting with project handovers following successful bids.

About You

• Background in mechanical building services (site, office, engineering, or commercial)

• Some exposure to estimating, commercial, or pre-construction work is beneficial but not essential.

• Strong numerical and analytical skills.

• Keen to learn, develop, and progress within estimating.

• Organised, detail-oriented, and commercially minded.
