Position: Full-time/Part-time Modern Languages Teacher

Overview

Chelmer Valley is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced teacher who can confidently teach French to Key Stages 3, 4 and Spanish to Key Stage 4. The ability to teach Key Stage 5 languages would be beneficial. The languages team is a mixture of experienced and young staff and benefits from a range of digital resources to support teaching and learning.

Chelmer Valley is a popular and oversubscribed, mixed, 11-18 comprehensive with 1200 students on roll. It is an exceptionally vibrant, friendly and supportive community built on strong relationships which allow our students to thrive. Our staff are highly valued, and we want them to pass on their knowledge and love of their subject so that our students are given the very best experience and opportunities to succeed.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver creative and vibrant lessons that enthuse and motivate all students to want to learn and achieve.
  • Maintain excellent communication with students, parents, and colleagues; engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Contribute to the languages team, collaborate with staff, and use a range of digital resources to support teaching and learning.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Ability to teach French to Key Stages 3 and 4 and Spanish to Key Stage 4; ability to teach Key Stage 5 languages would be beneficial.
  • Natural flair for delivering lessons; enthusiastic about professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to supporting student achievement.

Information about the School

Chelmer Valley High School – An Engineering & Leadership Specialist Academy - is located north of Chelmsford, in the village of Broomfield. We became an Academy on 1st August 2011. It is an exciting time at Chelmer Valley, and we continue to go from strength to strength with a staff whose commitment to taking the Academy forward is second to none and a governing body that provides challenge and support.

Our school has a positive atmosphere and everyone is expected to treat each other with respect in creating a positive and effective learning environment. Chelmer is a very popular school and has been oversubscribed for several years.

The current school roll is nearly 1200 students, including 190 in the Sixth Form. Our aim is to remain at about this size to provide each student with appropriate personal attention and care.

Major developments are evident throughout our site, with state-of-the-art Technology and Science facilities, an impressive specialist Performing Arts centre, purpose-built sixth form building and modern PE facilities.

Our expectations of students are high; various programmes provide opportunities for all students, including additional help in class and activities for Gifted and Talented students.

We develop teaching and learning skills and qualifications of all staff; internal promotion is encouraged.
