Position: Outreach SEMH Tutor (Secondary)

EOTAS Tutor - Supporting Students with Emotional Anxiety

Location:

Chelmsford and Maldon, Essex

Focus: 1:1 Tuition for Secondary-Aged Students with SEMH (Year 11) in the home and the community

Provision Type:
Educated Other Than at School (EOTAS)

Pay up to £30 per hour umbrella /£26 PAYE for experienced/qualified teachers

3 - 6 hours per day Term Time Only. From 9:30am

We're proud to be partnering with a forward-thinking alternative provision to recruit dedicated EOTAS Tutors to deliver personalized educational programmes to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including PTSD. These students are currently educated outside of a traditional school environment, and your role will be pivotal in helping them re‑engage with learning and build brighter futures.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced educators looking to make a meaningful impact in a flexible, non-mainstream setting.

Role

As an EOTAS Tutor, you'll work closely with secondary-aged learners, either one-to-one or in small groups, in community-based settings or r focus will be on promoting academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth—while building strong relationships with both learners and their families. Students will require support with KS4/GCSE learning (Year 11 students) following poor attendance due to anxiety.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver tailored lessons aligned with functional skills/GCSEs
  • Adapt your teaching style to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Support learning across a variety of settings, including homes and community venues
  • Collaborate with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency and holistic support
  • Foster trust and motivation through patient, flexible, and creative approaches
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing best practices where appropriate
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEMH or similar complex needs
  • Solid knowledge of the secondary curriculum and effective teaching strategies
  • Strong adaptability, empathy, and resilience in varied learning environments
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding, SEND, and trauma-informed practices
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred due to travel across settings
