Project Manager - Construction

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Salary: £40,000 plus company van

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

As Project Manager you will manage multiple live construction projects (£500k-£1m+), taking full responsibility from pre-start through to handover. This is a site-focused role requiring practical decision-making, strong leadership, and regular site presence.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage programme, cost, quality, and delivery across multiple projects
• Control labour, plant, and subcontractors to maximise efficiency
• Manage variations and client approvals
• Produce and manage programmes using MS Project
• Prepare and implement RAMS and ensure H&S compliance
• Maintain accurate site records and deliver toolbox talks
• Read and work from technical drawings
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and local authorities
• Flexibility to work weekends when required

• Strong hands-on construction background
• Experience managing multiple projects or sites
• Experience delivering projects up to £1m+
• Confident leading site teams and subcontractors
• Good knowledge of MS Project and Excel
• Strong H&S and compliance knowledge
• Proactive, practical, problem-solving approach
• Full UK driving licence
