Location: Essex / South East (hybrid working)
We are a rapidly expanding specialist garden room company with a team of over 20 people, delivering high-quality, bespoke garden buildings across Essex and the South East. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Buildings Control Consultant to join our team.
This is a pivotal role focused on technical oversight, planning and building regulations compliance, and on-site project management. You will support projects from pre-start through to completion, ensuring regulatory compliance, build quality, and smooth delivery on site.
You will report directly to the Director and work closely with internal teams, acting as the technical authority for both office-based and site-based matters.
Responsibilities- Carrying out detailed site surveys for garden room and residential projects
- Assessing site conditions, access constraints, groundwork requirements, and services
- Advising on planning permission requirements, permitted development rights, and constraints for garden rooms and annexes
- Providing technical guidance to ensure compliance with current Building Regulations
- Reviewing designs and technical details prior to construction
- Managing and overseeing on-site works, including coordination of subcontractors and trades
- Carrying out regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and compliance
- Acting as the main technical point of contact for site-related and regulatory queries
- Supporting project planning, programming, and sequencing
- Identifying and resolving technical, compliance, and site-related issues efficiently
- Maintaining accurate project records using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Communicating effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Proven experience in a Buildings Control Consultant , Project Manager, Site Manager, or similar role within residential construction
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and build sequencing
- Good working knowledge of planning processes, permitted development, and Building Regulations
- Experience managing or overseeing on-site works
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications
- Comfortable working with CRM systems and project management software
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Confident, professional communication style
- Full clean UK driving licence
