The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four heavy civil construction companies. Our services include infrastructure improvement, heavy civil construction, and site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States. We work on highways, bridges, DOT projects, power plants, dams, underground utilities, and more.

General Position Summary

The Traffic Control Technician establishes, maintains, and monitors safe traffic flow around active AIS Infrastructure construction sites. This role supports the safe movement of vehicles, equipment, and pedestrians while protecting workers, the public, and project assets. The position requires strict adherence to traffic control plans, safety standards, and situational awareness in dynamic construction environments.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Set up, adjust, and remove traffic control equipment including cones, signage, barricades, delineators, and message boards.
  • Assist with installation and removal of traffic control devices using hand tools such as impact wrenches, post drivers, and hammer drills.
  • Provide direction or support to other flaggers or traffic control staff as required by the superintendent.
  • Inspect traffic control devices to ensure visibility, placement accuracy, and continued effectiveness throughout the workday.
  • Complete required traffic control logs, reports, and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and fellow traffic control personnel regarding hazards, changes, or concerns.
  • Follow complex traffic control instructions, plans, and updates as directed.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with the public, inspectors, or project stakeholders.

  • Physical stamina and endurance for prolonged standing and repetitive hand signaling.
  • Ability to lift and handle traffic control equipment and materials (minimum 50 lbs).
  • Situational awareness and commitment to safety at all times.
Education, Knowledge & Experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Flagger certification preferred but not required; willingness to obtain certification upon hire is required.
  • Prior traffic control, flagging, or construction experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with hand tools (impact wrench, post driver, hammer drill) preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
  • Availability to work Monday‑Friday, 7:00 AM‑6:00 PM, with flexibility for overtime as needed.
Working Environment & Conditions
  • Primarily outdoor work in active construction zones.
  • Exposure to moving traffic, heavy equipment, uneven terrain, noise, dust, and changing weather.
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, and physical activity.
  • Flexible hours and potential overtime based on project demands.
  • Travel to various job sites may be required.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical activity for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong visual and auditory awareness to monitor traffic, equipment, and safety conditions.
  • Ability to maintain focus, attention to detail, and quick reaction times in high‑risk environments.
