RN - Urology

Job Summary

A registered professional nurse employed with the Academic Urologists of Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and indirect care of patients undergoing invasive urology procedures/surgery and those experiencing acute urologic maladies. This position follows a team‑based approach to care, with roles trained to meet Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. The nurse is trained to coordinate care for patients, support patients/families/caregivers in self‑management and behavior change, manage the practice’s patient population, and participate in quality improvement and performance evaluation.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Annual Erg Erfahrungen Health System HLC courses (required)

• Required:
  
  Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills, organizational functions, policies, and regulations, current trends, and nursing principles applicable to special educational areas. Previous physician office experience.
• Preferred:
  Previous experience in urology practice

• Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee
• BLS certification completed prior to beginning service and maintained thereafter
• For non‑Tennessee residents:
  Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire

The RN must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide comprehensive direct and/or indirect care of patients undergoing urologic procedures/surgery as well as patients experiencing acute and chronic urologic maladies. Duties include assessing and monitoring patients pre‑ and post‑procedure, administering medications, and assisting with procedures under the direction of EHS physicians. The RN must provide age‑appropriate care, interpret patient data, and apply the principles of growth and development over the life span in accordance with the unit’s policies and procedures.
