Job Summary

A nurse tech 1 provides direct patient care under the direction of a RN, including procedures, activities of daily living, and operating equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.

• Required: Will consider a nursing student (RN or LPN) within one year of graduating from an accredited nursing program.

A nurse technician 1 on the Cardiac Stepdown Unit performs selected nursing functions under the direction of a registered nurse. A nurse tech 1 provides direct patient care including procedures, activities of daily living and operating equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.

The nurse tech 1 must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the Cardiac Stepdown Unit. He/she must be familiar with the assessments and treatments of patients with acute or chronic cardiac conditions. The nurse tech 1 must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit s policies and procedures.
