A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the surgical patient.

• Graduate from an accredited School of nursing (Required)
• CNOR (Preferred)
• Membership in professional organization (Preferred)

• Will accept new graduate from an accredited school of nursing with valid licensure. (Required)
• Minimum of one (1) year of surgical experience (Preferred)

• Current licensure to practice in the State of Tennessee (Required)
• BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward (Required)
• Additional:
  Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for assessment, documentation, and evaluation of the plan of care during the perioperative phase of surgery. The nurse demonstrates ability to prioritize duties, advocate for patients, and collaborates with medical, anesthesia, managerial, and clinical staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Knowledge and skills include care appropriate to patient age, growth & development principles, assessment data, and unit policies and procedures.

The nurse contributes to nursing and Medical Center objectives and supports the philosophy and objectives.
