Summary

This position is located at Pointe Centre VA Clinic - 1208 Pointe Centre - Chattanooga - TN The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) practices in the Cardiology Section of the MEDICINE Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management.

• The NP practices to the full extent of their education - training - and certification
• Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position
• The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position.
  
  The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients
• Major Duties:
  Uses advanced clinical judgement to independently provide evidence-based treatment to Veterans with Cardiac health conditions with an emphasis on using evidence-based practice
• Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal disease management
• Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team
• Orders and interprets labs - tests - and diagnostic studies
• Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
• Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services
• Provides education to patients and their families
• Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes

  Preferred Experience:
  
  Experience in managing patients with a variety of cardiac clinical issues - including but not limited to arrhythmias - heart failure - cardiac implantable electronic devices - and coronary artery disease
• Experience working in an outpatient cardiology clinic or similar environment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high patient care standards
• Skill in recognizing and escalating care for patients with unstable or complex cardiovascular problems that require a higher level of care
• Strong clinical decision-making and critical thinking abilities
• Familiarity with using and interpreting cardiovascular diagnostic tools and imaging techniques such as EKG - echocardiography - and stress testing
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle a busy outpatient clinic setting
