-based manufacturer of plastic pails and packaging solutions. We operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where safety, quality, and teamwork are critical to keeping production running efficiently.
The Shift Lead is responsible for ensuring their team meets daily production objectives by supporting operational efficiency, material flow, and production performance. This role communicates expectations, motivates team members, teaches new processes, and supports department initiatives while helping maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards across the shift.
Key Responsibilities- Follows safety policies and LOTO procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Coaches, leads, and mentors team members to create an environment that strives to meet goals in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Oversees schedule and material changes efficiently following the "work order changeover process."
- Oversees and supports the injection molding process.
- Monitors machine output for non-conformance and engages cross-functional team members to resolve defects.
- Maintains clean and organized work areas following 5S methodology.
- Conducts pre-shift production meetings.
- Provides support for production team members (floaters, operators, material handlers, processors).
- Provides the Shift Supervisor with accurate information on safety issues, quality concerns, and production bottlenecks.
- Adheres to production standards and SOPs and escalates non-conformance to the Shift Supervisor.
- Ability to stay organized.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proficient mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to utilize or learn production monitoring software.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required)
- One (1) or more years of prior experience working on molding machines such as Husky, BMB, Van Dorn, Engel, and/or Milacron preferred.
- Basic knowledge of auxiliary equipment such as Beck robotic automation, Martin Automation, and Kase Heat Transfer Application preferred.
Job Requirements
- Ability to lift and handle a minimum of 45–55 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in an environment with moderate noise levels.
- Ability to perform work from a standing and/or sitting position.
- All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires the use of PPE at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection where required, etc.).
