We’re seeking a Precision Repair Machinist for Industrial Coatings in Chattanooga, TN. You will prepare, apply, and finish advanced coatings on diverse industrial components while cross‑training on machining, grinding, dynamic balancing, chrome plating, and thermal spray processes.
Your Impact- Translate engineering drawings and work instructions into accurate setups and flawless execution.
- Confirm specs using precision metrology: thickness, critical dimensions, total indicated runout, and surface roughness.
- Protect critical areas using effective masking materials and methods.
- Keep your cell organized and safe; engage in recurring safety training.
- Safely move and position parts with forklifts/hoists.
- Operate lathes, OD/ cylindrical grinders, blasting equipment, coating stations, polishers, and buffers.
- Perform routine operator maintenance to keep assets reliable.
- Capture data in software and spreadsheets to verify repair accuracy.
- Master precision tools: micrometers, dial indicators, pi tape, thickness gauges, profilometers.
- Develop surface prep expertise: visual inspection and sandblasting best practices.
- Run coating technologies: plasma, HVOF, twin wire arc, and plating rectifiers.
- Achieve finish targets, including mirror‑grade surfaces.
- Advance machining/grinding skills on lathes, cylindrical grinders, and positioners.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot rotating equipment component issues.
- Innate mechanical aptitude and a love for hands‑on work.
- Thrives on variety and pace; committed to first‑time quality.
- Team‑focused, accountable, and solution‑oriented (root cause over blame).
- Comfortable with basic computer tasks and data entry.
- Manual machining on lathes, mills, and cylindrical grinders.
- Experience with cranes and hoists.
- MIG, TIG, or stick welding.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical certification/degree preferred.
- Lean/5S experience is a plus.

- Weekend shift: 5am‑5pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Initial training is Monday‑Friday, 5am‑1:30pm.
- Weekday shift: 5am‑1:30pm Monday‑Friday.
- Overtime may be needed; typical weekly hours 40‑50.
