Job Description

Systems Operator - Chattenooga, TN

Starting Pay: $18.00 per Hour

Position Summary

The Systems Operator has the responsibility of ensuring that all types of material are managed correctly. This includes but is not limited to the removal of all scrap, corrugate disposal, organizing resins, scrap movements, weighing and palletizing scrap or sheet, preventing contamination, cleaning filters, dumping resin, etc. This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to safely operate forklift truck.
  • Follow all safety policies, including use of personal protective equipment, housekeeping, hazardous materials, etc.
  • Interface with machine operators concerning the proper control of regrinds, virgin resin, and additives.
  • Ensure timely distribution of materials to the proper machine, and removal of resins for proper line clearance and storage.
  • Perform proper separations and controls of the various resins with a focus on contamination prevention; alert supervisor if contamination is found.
  • Prepare and submit all required paperwork timely and accurately to the shift supervisor at the end of the shift.
  • Identify various types of resins in both Virgin and Regrind form.
  • Operate and understand vacuum loading systems.
  • Operate and understand resin blending system.
  • Operate and understand gaylord dump systems.
  • Operate and understand scales and document resin tags.
  • Ensure regrind is properly documented and confirm that no loose regrind is on the pallet or spilling from the Gaylord before transporting.
  • Remove scrap material, regrind, and cardboard from production areas as needed.
  • Operate Compactor, bale r, shrink wrap machine.
  • Normal housekeeping duties, trash removal, mopping, etc.
  • Miscellaneous duties as directed by department supervisor.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on vacuum loading systems and clean filters on a daily basis.
  • Properly complete all scan transactions correctly and consistently.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid driver’s license and qualify for forklift license at WNA
  • Recommend prior one year experience driving a forklift but can be waived with demonstrated proficiency
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision after the initial training period; on-the-job training under the mentoring of the shift supervisor and other systems operators
  • Normal dexterity required
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 75 lbs. infrequently
  • Good attendance and punctuality required
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and motivate other team members
  • Ability to operate devices such as scales and scan guns
  • Ability to work in dusty, hot environments
