Mitigation Technician

Overview

Mitigation Technician role at BELFOR Property Restoration. The position is responsible for providing operational support in mitigation efforts for clients, including pumping, water extraction, mold removal, and use of specialized equipment under supervision.

• Receive instructions from the team leader and follow the team’s directions.
• Know and understand the MSDS protocols for the chemical products used during mitigation processes.
• Perform daily inspections of vehicle safety and maintenance, keeping them clean and in perfect condition.
• Pay attention to detail.
• Demonstrate mastery of the Book of Damage Caused by the Water at BELFOR.
• Under supervision, demonstrate understanding and proper use of the scraper and rinse rod, the weighed trawl, the weighed extractor, the water extractor, and the portable extraction unit, and of the appropriate legal discharge and drainage systems.
• Under supervision, build adequate containment systems using appropriate calculations and equipment (e.g., HEPA vacuum).
• Properly use cleaning/disinfecting solutions and removal techniques from confined areas.
• Use appropriate lifting techniques, sliding pads, polystyrene foam blocks, and ensure protection of the client’s personal belongings.
• Remove vapor barriers, label recoverable cuttings, create holes for airflow, and install Injectidry, Directed‑In, or Octi‑Dry systems, using non‑penetrating and penetrating meters.
• Comply with BELFOR standards to safeguard other people’s property.
• Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating professionalism.
• Work within time constraints to meet specific deadlines.
• Be willing to travel, work nights, and work weekends as required.
• Maintain timely and accurate records of hours worked, equipment, and consumables used.
• Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and mandatory security training courses.

• Water pumping and extraction experience.
• Mold remediation knowledge.
• Ability to move and re‑set contents.
• Experience setting drying equipment.
• Knowledge of antimicrobial applications.
• Vehicle safety and maintenance inspection skills.
• Ability to maintain vehicles in a clean, serviceable condition.
• Construction of polyethylene enclosures.
• Debris removal and disposal skills.
• Maintenance of equipment used in daily tasks.
• Additional duties as required.

• Identify products (consumables), usage, and disposal requirements with training.
• Knowledge of various pump systems.
• Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR's vehicle policy.
• Sense of urgency, professional demeanor, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
• English language literacy and fluency.

• Frequent lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
• Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted up to 50% of the time.
• Access and mobility in tight spaces.
• Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
• Ability to use mobile devices for data collection and time recording.
