Job Summary

A licensed Practical Nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. A Licensed Practical Nurse must have knowledge of and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines.

Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practice s patient population. Participates in the practice s quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

• Required:
  
  Graduate of a state approved LPN vocational training program.
• De-escalation training if applicable.

• Required:
  
  Knowledge of general nursing principles and practices, organizational functions, policies, procedures and regulations, and knowledge of current trends and new developments in health care.

• Required:
  
  Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to patients seen in a health care office setting. Responsible for administering direct/indirect care of the patient under the supervision of their provider. Registers and schedules patient appointments, interviews patients, and record patient s histories. Assists patients, nursing and providers with procedures. Knowledge of and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.

Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding for reimbursement. Computer literate.
