Mental Health Technician

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic patient care services related to behavioral health nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the MHT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the MHT’s skills, training and the needs of the department, and supports the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.

The MHT complies with hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

What you will do in this role:

• Actively participate in departmental process improvement (PI) as assigned by the Unit Director
• Maintain knowledge of and compliance with current hospital and departmental policies
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho-social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of patients served in the assigned service area
• Demonstrate age-appropriate nursing skills with documentation that is accurate, legible and completed in a timely manner

Qualifications

Required:

• High School diploma or Associate’s Degree in a related field
• BLS Certification within 30 days of hire (facility provided)
• CPI certification within 30 days of hire (facility provided)
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 30 days of hire

Preferred:

• Previous mental health experience
• One year hospital or nursing home experience

Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility offering a full range of medical and surgical services, including orthopedics and robotic surgery, 24/7 Emergency Department, and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
