Job Summary and Qualifications
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate medically approved recreation programs in behavioral health environment.

  • Observe, analyze, and record patients’ participation, reactions, and progress during treatment sessions, modifying treatment programs as needed.

  • Participate in development of recovery plan to meet needs of patient based on needs assessment, patient interests and objectives of therapy.

  • Encourage clients with special needs and circumstances to acquire new skills and get involved in health-promoting leisure activities such as games, arts and crafts and gardening

  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams.

  • Obtain information from medical records, staff and the patient to assess patient’s capabilities, needs and interests.

  • Plan, organize, direct and participate in treatment programs and activities to facilitate patient’s rehabilitation and integrate into the community

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his/her age‑specific needs.

  • Demonstrate knowledge to assess, plan, and evaluate care in coordination with the health care team across the continuum.

  • Assess and plan for the therapeutic leisure needs of the patient.

  • Plan and facilitate holiday and seasonal activities.

  • Plan and facilitate fundraisers for holiday and seasonal programing.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Bachelors Degree
