Job SummaryThe Pharmacy Procurement Specialist serves as an authoritative resource on supply chain management and maintains financial oversight over pharmaceutical costs. Responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of Pharmacy purchasing including medication procurement, inventory management, and participation in and compliance with the 340B Federal Drug Discount Program for all covered entities. Works with all sites across the system to effectively manage dynamic inventory levels and minimize the impact of shortages on direct patient care.
Provides oversight to the development and implementation of Pharmacy Services goals and objectives, policies, procedures, and budgets as they relate to Supply Chain.
- Minimum of a Pharm
D from an accredited program - Preferred: MBA/MHA, HSPAL residency graduate
- Experience with pharmacy purchasing and supply chain
- Preferred:
Experience with 340B program, significant analytical skills
- A current and valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of Tennessee
Candidate must possess strong verbal, written and presentation skills. Ability to work with a variety of professionals, independently, in a fast‑paced environment. Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills, relationship and customer service skills. Ability to work collaboratively, lead change, consult, and be team‑oriented, supportive, and cooperative. Must be able to re‑prioritize, demonstrate flexibility, and handle multiple issues simultaneously. Foster an environment that supports and respects diversity.
Have the ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Skill set including leadership, communication, business acumen, quality improvement, collaboration, team development, data analysis and financial reporting.
Department Position SummaryProvide oversight to pharmacy purchasing, including medication procurement, inventory control, and contracting; strategies to maintain supplies during shortages and recalls to minimize impact on patient care. Provide oversight to participation and compliance with, and optimization of the financial benefit from, the 340B Federal Drug Discount Program for all covered entities. Effectively and continually maintain open lines of communication with management, staff, and customers to facilitate the flow of relevant information.
Provide timely and accurate communication, both written and verbal, regarding supply chain changes.
Serve as the authoritative resource on supply chain management and maintain a robust financial oversight program over pharmaceutical costs. Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies. Maintain industry best practices for pharmaceutical product sourcing and contracting, assist with pharmacy performance improvement and quality control programs, and maintain knowledge of leading‑edge developments by participating in ongoing independent study, professional activities, and affiliations.
Provide oversight to or lead committees, task forces, and performance improvement teams as needed.
