Pediatric ECHO Sonographer, Registered

Job Summary

The Pediatric ECHO Sonographer, Registered at Erlanger is responsible for performing diagnostic echo cardiographic procedures as ordered. The position is involved in a team-based approach to care, coordinating care for patients and supporting families in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. The sonographer participates in the department's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

• Perform diagnostic echo cardiographic studies for patients of all ages.
• Coordinate care for patients and support families in self-management and behavior change.
• Participate in the department’s quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
• Assist in coordinating the operations of the pediatric echo laboratory, including review and maintenance of echo lab inventory and monitoring of echo lab equipment.
• Interact professionally with physicians, nursing units and patients and provide teaching to residents and students.
• Continuously increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field and participate in clinical research if desired.

• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
• Specialty certification in pediatric echocardiography required within one year of hire.
• Medical and/or hospital clinical experience.
• BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward.
• Must complete registry within the first year of hire.

• Specialty certification in fetal echocardiography by the ARDMS.
• Associates of Applied Science in Cardiovascular Technology from an Accredited Facility.
• PALS.
• Specialty certification in pediatric echocardiography by the ARDMS or CCI Congenital Cardiac (RCCS).
• Basic computer experience demonstrated by either 1 to 2 years work experience or college level courses.
• One to two years hospital experience in cardiac ultrasound.
• One year pediatric experience.
