Overview
The Revenue Cycle Specialist analyzes data for KPI monitoring and reporting to reduce financial risk and improve financial performance. Responsible for ensuring compliance with registration policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; monitoring staff performance, identifying benchmarks, and implementing course corrections. Develops and implements strategies for continuous operational improvement across the health system for all aspects of registration, including professional and hospital billing.
Leads end-user training and supports learning across departments. Conducts audits and outcome assessments for accuracy of patient data in registration, billing, and related operations. Supports revenue cycle initiatives across registration and billing departments. Reviews reports to monitor patient account errors and track trends for timely resolution. Provides ongoing reports to leadership as defined by owning area. Collaborates with eChart, Organizational Learning, operations leadership, payers, and third-party applications to ensure consistency across the health system.

High school graduate/GED - Preferred: B.S. in Business or Healthcare-related field

Two years work experience in a complex, high-volume healthcare setting in registration, precert and/or billing (PAS or PFS). Knowledge of insurance processes and direct patient contact. Demonstrated ability to mentor and teach diverse learning styles. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, build positive relationships, and adapt under pressure. - Preferred:
Supervisory or training experience. Experience in both hospital and professional healthcare settings. Analytical and reporting skills. Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint;
Epic experience preferred.

Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Operations Manager and Revenue Cycle Director, the Revenue Cycle Specialist analyzes performance data to assist revenue cycle management and operational management with performance accountability. Provides daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for leadership to track performance. Develops and creates new reports as requested and analyzes data to identify gaps and provide recommendations. Monitors upfront collections, work queues, denials, and completes special projects.
Tracks KPIs and communicates with applicable leadership within defined time frames. Provides support for initiatives and projects that impact the revenue cycle. Works with IT and other departments to test software upgrades and changes before department-wide implementation. Maintains knowledge of applicable insurance plans and billing requirements to ensure compliance. Develops instructional materials and staff development initiatives. Develops and maintains Revenue Cycle policies and procedures for all front-end processes.
Conducts workshops with Erlanger eChart/Build teams and Organizational Learning/PAS leadership. Provides onboarding content for new employees.
