Medical Technologist / Technician – Baroness Lab – Full Time
A Certified Medical Technologist performs and develops a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment and using both manual and automated methods.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related biological science and 12‑month approved clinical training in a NACCLS‑approved program or equivalent.
- MT/CLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
- State of Tennessee licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (preferred).
- In lieu of an associate’s degree, successful completion of equivalent military training and service as a medical laboratory specialist.
- State of Tennessee licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
The Medical Technologist performs chemical, microscopic and bacteriological testing of body fluids to obtain data for diagnosis and treatment of disease under the direction of a Coordinator. He/she works closely with the Coordinator and other Technicians/Technologists in an atmosphere of continuous quality improvement and performs duties as assigned by a Coordinator, Clinical Lab Manager, and/or Administrative Laboratory Director. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her section and interpret data reflectively to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age‑specific needs.
Current incumbents hired prior to December 2016 who have not met the requirements listed above will be grandfathered into the position.
