Overview Of The Role

The Assistant Director of Student Finance reports to the Vice President of Compliance and is responsible for administering and overseeing specific financial aid programs, performing advanced needs analysis, and assisting in the overall management and leadership of the Student Finance Office. This position requires a strong commitment to student success, a deep understanding of financial aid regulations, and excellent communication and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities Operational Support
  • Manage team Student Finance Advisors ensuring KPI’s are met.
  • Manage Student Account Receivables, ensuring aid is processed timely and students are current with payment plans.
  • Be the main contact for a group of students, to complete all required documents with Student Finance.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of financial aid office policies and procedures.
  • Generate reports for management, auditing, and reconciliation purposes.
  • Assist the Director with staff training, supervision, and goal setting for student finance office personnel.
Counseling & Outreach
  • Provide comprehensive and sensitive financial aid counseling to prospective and enrolled students and their families regarding financing options, application procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct workshops, presentations, and outreach activities for students, parents, and campus partners (e.g., Admissions, Student Accounts).
  • Resolve complex or escalated student finance concerns
Student Aid Processing
  • Ensure students are completing appropriate documentation
  • Perform advanced needs analysis, including professional judgment determinations and dependency overrides, in accordance with federal guidelines.
  • Be the primary liaison with third party servicers to ensure timely processing of student funds.
  • Complete Return to Title IV calculations and schedule any returns
  • Assist with the accurate and timely disbursement and refund of financial aid funds.
Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a college or university Financial Aid Office.
  • Demonstrated experience with federal Title IV aid and state financial aid programs.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for counseling and presentation purposes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
