Job Summary
The Associate Engineering Technician supports engineering teams by performing technical tasks that require an intermediate understanding of engineering principles and practices. The role utilizes digital tools and design software to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation and project deliverables, with opportunities to begin providing guidance to less experienced technicians. This position is specifically focused on electrical drafting and is based in the Chattanooga, TN office to support a local client.
Job Description
- Supports engineering teams by performing technical tasks that require an intermediate understanding of engineering principles and practices
- Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
- May begin to provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineering technicians.
- Experience with substation work preferred, including schematics, wiring, and site layouts
- Role is based specifically in the Chattanooga office to support a local client
- Must be within commutable distance to the Chattanooga office
- 2-3 years of experience with Autodesk AutoCAD (Micro Station a plus) •
- Electrical-focused role requiring 2-3 years of drafting experience for electrical projects (no civil focus)
- Continues to learn and remains current on standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and policies and procedures
- Begins to proactively apply knowledge of the Quality Program to ensure deliverables are accurate and compliant
- Demonstrates personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
- Broadens the use of applications to continuously evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures
- Creates and develops deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
- May perform basic computations such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
- Assists in coordinating deliverables with other groups involved on the same project to minimize interference or errors
- Focuses on the needs of internal clients while gaining basic understanding of external client interests and drivers
- Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes
- High School Degree or GED
- Role is based specifically in the Chattanooga office to support a local client
- Must be within commutable distance to the Chattanooga office
- No relocation or per diem provided
