Project Engineer
Location:
Chattanooga, Tennessee
The Project Engineer performs a variety of engineering duties, including field inspection, material testing, evaluation, analysis, design, and technical document preparation under the direction of a higher-level engineer. Projects must be conducted in compliance with applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and internal procedures and standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Performs field inspection and evaluation of structures under direction of a higher-level engineer.
- Performs testing of materials and incorporates results into reports under direction of a higher-level engineer.
- Performs complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices under direction of a higher-level engineer.
- Prepares comprehensive engineering documents including inspection reports, design plans and specifications under direction of a higher-level engineer.
- Actively participates in internal project meetings and works to actively resolve project issues.
- Actively promotes a safe work culture.

- Technical knowledge, experience, and capabilities in structural engineering.
- Proficiency in computer-assisted structural engineering and office software and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
- Ability to define problems, collect/interpret data, evaluate facts, draw valid conclusions, and effectively communicate findings/results.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited four-year university.
- 0-4 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT)
- Valid US Driver’s License
- FHWA-NHI – Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges courses
- ADCI Commercial Diver
- SPRAT Rope Access Technician
- OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Course
- NASBLA Boater Safety Course
- First Aid, CPR & O2 Provider
- TWIC Card
- Valid US Passport
- Commercial DOT Medical Card
The duties require regular sitting, standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, speaking, and hearing. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds routinely, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Fieldwork may involve rugged conditions and adverse weather. Travel inside the continental U.S. may be required. Safety, health, and environment are core values;

CompensationThe salary range is $68,000 to $75,000 for positions filled in Tennessee.
