The Opportunity- Lead structural design engineering and analysis on substation scopes
- Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
- Develop recommendations for equipment and materials. Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
- Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members. Maintain positive client relations and communicate with the project team. May assist with business development activities.
- Serve as technical specialist or have management and/or administrative responsibilities. May supervise engineering staff on medium or high complexity projects and is recognized as a key reference for technical guidance. Has influence for scope of responsibilities within the organization.

- Provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable codes and Black & Veatch policies.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards.
- Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
- Quality / Continuous Improvement
- Apply knowledge and comply with Black & Veatch quality program.
- Ensure compliance with quality program and guide others.
- Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Engineering Production
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects.
- Conduct research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
- Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of engineering data.
- Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
- Manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Develop and apply advanced engineering solutions to complex problems.
- Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.
- Establish work plan for projects.
- Lead larger production teams; coordinate multiple disciplines; or be responsible charge for a project.
- Project Coordination
- Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex and complex projects.
- Define project schedules for single discipline or multiple disciplines.
- Client Focus
- Identify key client interests and drivers; communicate them to the team; develop approaches.
- May offer additional services to clients and support business development or pursuit activities.
- Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology
- Act as technical specialist, providing consultation and guidance to project teams.
- Support multiple projects on technical challenges.
- Foster knowledge management and provide mentoring.
- Apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique problems.
