• Lead structural design engineering and analysis on substation scopes
• Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
• Develop recommendations for equipment and materials. Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
• Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members. Maintain positive client relations and communicate with the project team. May assist with business development activities.
• Serve as technical specialist or have management and/or administrative responsibilities. May supervise engineering staff on medium or high complexity projects and is recognized as a key reference for technical guidance. Has influence for scope of responsibilities within the organization.

• Engineering Standards
  • Provide guidance and direction on design guides, standards, systems, applicable codes and Black & Veatch policies.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
• Quality / Continuous Improvement
  • Apply knowledge and comply with Black & Veatch quality program.
  • Ensure compliance with quality program and guide others.
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Engineering Production
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects.
  • Conduct research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of engineering data.
  • Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Develop and apply advanced engineering solutions to complex problems.
  • Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.
  • Establish work plan for projects.
  • Lead larger production teams; coordinate multiple disciplines; or be responsible charge for a project.
• Project Coordination
  • Coordinate with internal/external team members on moderately complex and complex projects.
  • Define project schedules for single discipline or multiple disciplines.
• Client Focus
  • Identify key client interests and drivers; communicate them to the team; develop approaches.
  • May offer additional services to clients and support business development or pursuit activities.
