The Senior Maintenance Technician – Transmission serves as a staff-level technical specialist responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving maintenance programs for equipment within the power delivery grid and transmission communication systems. This role applies advanced technical expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of transmission assets while driving continuous improvement in maintenance practices, procedures, and workforce performance.

• Develop, evaluate, and implement maintenance programs for specified transmission and power delivery components.
• Review equipment performance and maintenance program requirements; analyze the effectiveness of maintenance methods and procedures.
• Initiate maintenance program updates and recommend design changes to address reliability, availability, performance improvements.
• Apply advanced knowledge of transmission operations and maintenance principles to support projects of significant scope and technical complexity.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance activities for assigned transmission components.
• Establish diagnostic techniques, work performance standards, and material stocking levels to support effective maintenance execution.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of maintenance activities and recommend process improvements to enhance productivity, equipment availability, and system reliability.
• Develop maintenance procedures, identify best work methods, and resolve complex technical issues escalated by technicians or craft personnel.
• Observe and maintenance crew practices, recommending and implementing improved preventive and corrective procedures.
• Ensure maintenance activities and procedures comply with applicable OSHA, ANSI, IEEE, NESC standards, and TVA requirements.
• Develop, identify, and deliver technical training for maintenance personnel covering transmission components ranging from newly installed to obsolete equipment.
• Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for transmission maintenance practices across the organization.

• Extensive experience in transmission or power delivery maintenance, operations, or engineering support.
• Advanced knowledge of transmission equipment, maintenance methodologies, and diagnostic techniques.
• Strong understanding of OSHA, ANSI, IEEE, NESC, and utility-industry safety and maintenance standards.
• Proven ability to analyze equipment performance data and translate findings into actionable maintenance improvements.
• Demonstrated experience developing technical procedures, standards, and training materials.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to maintenance technicians and craft personnel.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Prior experience supporting utility-scale transmission systems or grid operations.
• Experience leading or contributing to large-scale maintenance improvement initiatives.
• Technical certifications or advanced training related to power delivery or transmission systems.

• Field and office work in support of transmission maintenance activities.
• May require travel to substations, transmission sites, or training locations.
• Must be able to support activities in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
