This position combines municipal civil engineering work with project management responsibilities for the City of Collegedale. It requires an exemplary customer‑service approach to internal and external stakeholders and a strong commitment to public service.
Under the general supervision of the City Manager or designee, the employee reviews land development (residential and non‑residential) projects and provides general engineering support to the Planning and Community Development Department, Public Works, Building and Codes, and other departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare engineering documents and construction plans using Civil 3D and related tools.
- Conduct field work, inspections, and provide technical oversight for municipal projects.
- Review development proposals, perform technical calculations, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans; coordinate across departments, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with city objectives and timelines.
- Create and manage project budgets; monitor expenditures and resource allocation to ensure cost‑effective execution and compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
- Track project progress using key metrics; mitigate risks, resolve issues, and ensure work meets technical standards, timelines, and quality expectations from planning through final delivery.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field from an ABET‑accredited program.
- FE/EI or PE license preferred.
- PMP certification preferred, or ability to obtain.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering and Civil 3D software preferred.
- Familiarity with HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑2, and ArcGIS preferred.
- Understanding of local permitting and development regulations.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and pre‑employment physical.
