Transmission Line Engineer 3 – Grid – Sargent & Lundy
Directly apply your knowledge of transmission line engineering to design, analyze, and specify high‑voltage transmission systems.
Responsibilities- Design transmission lines from 69 kV to 765 kV.
- Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
- Build foundation designs.
- Conduct conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
- Develop cost estimates, schedules, and procurement specifications.
- Specify transmission line components.
- Model lines in PLS‑CADD, determine right‑of‑way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and produce plan and profile drawings.
- Review vendor submittals.
Office work three days per week.
Qualifications- Degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
- Related engineering internship or co‑op experience.
- Proficiency with PLS‑CADD and PLS‑POLE.
- At least three years of transmission line engineering experience.
- Basic application of engineering principles in transmission line design.
- Experience with design tools, drawing production, and modeling.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion and Engineer in Training status.
- Proficiency with any of PLS‑TOWER, SAG
10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, Microstation. - Experience writing and supporting engineering calculation documentation.
- Familiarity with NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318 design codes.
