Overview
Adjunct Instructor - Commercial Truck Driving (Evening Position). This part-time role at Tennessee Board of Regents (T ) is located at the Soddy Daisy campus. The scheduled class time is five nights a week (3:15 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.) at the approved campus work site for instruction, office hours, and community and college service. Instructors are responsible for teaching students in classroom, hands-on lab settings, and clinical experiences to ensure entry-level employability in the field.
They promote sound educational practices, support student development, and maintain a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Holistic Student Support: demonstrate compassionate professionalism; tailor instructional strategies to diverse learning styles; integrate programs and initiatives to optimize the student experience; provide study strategies and resources; monitor student progress; provide counseling resources as needed.
- Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation: develop and adapt programs in response to changing environments and priorities; provide educational experiences in leadership, social responsibility, intercultural understanding, and global citizenship; use effective instructional methods and classroom management to engage students; ensure materials meet learning objectives; maintain equipment readiness; participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development; comply with campus and regulatory guidelines; collaborate with colleagues and advisory committees.
- Fiscal Stewardship: manage financial resources in line with college policies.
Required Qualifications:
- CDL Certificate from an accredited college
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required
- Current CDL Class A license
- Three years of truck driving experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree; DOT Certification as a Third Party Tester
- Computer proficiency with MS Office Suite, email, internet, databases, and virtual meeting platforms
- Strong oral and written communication; organization and problem-solving; planning; and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with people of varied viewpoints and backgrounds
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and demonstrate truck operation tasks
