Position: Business Analyst (Part-Time)

Overview

Job Summary: This part-time Business Analyst reports to the CEO and is a critical part of the Variable team. He or she must be a high trust, self-starting individual who can work independently and is proficient with spreadsheets and medium-complexity formulas like VLOOKUP. Problem solving and critical thinking skills are important. Very little phone or in person meetings are required, but email communication is required.

This Business Analyst is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, supplies, and services necessary for our operations. This role involves vendor management, contract negotiation, supply chain management, and inventory control to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective purchasing in order to meet customer demand. Many of these last skills can be trained for someone who is eager and able to learn.

Target pay is $20/hr while targeting 20 hours per week. PTO and a flexible schedule are key benefits in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Management:

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Place purchase orders for materials and supplies, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Coordinate transportation and distribution of goods to ensure timely delivery to customers and internal departments.
  • Collaborate with logistics providers to optimize shipping processes and costs.

Vendor Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to secure favorable pricing and service agreements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and address any issues or discrepancies.

Inventory Control:

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to ensure adequate stock.
  • Implement inventory management practices to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Participate in regular cycle and inventory counts.

Market Research:

  • Stay informed about industry trends and market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Conduct research on new products and suppliers to enhance procurement strategies.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to purchasing.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance metrics.

Collaboration:

  • Work by example so other team members and external partners can see the Variable values on display on a daily basis:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, finance, and engineering, to align purchasing activities with company objectives.
  • Provide support in resolving any issues related to orders, deliveries, or supplier performance.
