scope of responsibilities- assist attorneys in administering estates, including funding post‑death irrevocable trusts and preparing estate documents.
- prepare and file estate‑related tax returns including estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns.
- maintain g/l accounts, reconcile broker statements, prepare payables and bank deposits, and reconcile 1099 and k‑1 statements.
- perform trust accounting, audit accounts and maintain close personal contact with clients and financial advisors.
- meet an annual billable hour requirement of 1,600 hours.
- develop technical proficiency in database use, electronic research and project folder management.
- organize and manage files independently or delegate appropriately and supervise team members as needed.
- sustain attention to detail and quality of work.
- other duties as assigned.
- minimum of a bachelor’s degree; cpa preferred.
- excellent communication, analytical, organizational and time‑management skills.
- proven success working in a fast‑paced, continually changing environment.
- experience with trust and estate accounting, tax and trust accounting software.
- familiarity with document database programs and/or software.
- strong client case‑management experience and exceptional attention to detail.
- ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing business demands.
- ability to perform effectively with little or no supervision and meet deadlines.
- 10 or more years of trusts & estates experience preferred.
- prior experience with fsa capital markets or similar business units is a plus.
employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. Expected salary ranges include:
- california: $86,000 – $139,000
- colorado: $75,000 – $119,000
- illinois: $64,000 – $125,000
- maryland: $73,000 – $107,000
- massachusetts: $85,000 – $130,000
- minnesota: $75,000 – $111,000
- new jersey (jersey city): $78,000 – $114,000
- new york: $66,000 – $125,000
- washington: $88,000 – $134,000
- washington, dc: $94,000 – $138,000
