Medway Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Adult Social Care team on a part-time basis (21.8 hours per week). In this pivotal role, you will manage a complex caseload, provide professional supervision, and offer guidance and mentoring to a small team of social care staff. You will play a key role in promoting person-centred, strength-based practice that empowers residents to maintain independence.
You will also contribute to service development, quality assurance, and audit activity, ensuring continuous improvement in practice and outcomes for individuals and their families. The role involves liaising with internal colleagues and external partners to deliver high-quality care within budgetary constraints.
What You’ll Do- Provide expert social work knowledge and guidance to a team of Social Workers.
- Deliver supervision, coaching, and mentoring to staff and support the development of students and apprentices.
- Manage a complex caseload, ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of service users.
- Support service improvements through audit, action planning, and team development.
- Represent the Council in panels, multi-agency meetings, and forums.
- Keep up to date with legislation, policies, and good practice across Adult Social Care.
- Promote equality, safeguarding, and Medway Council’s corporate priorities, including the Carbon Neutral 2050 commitment.
- Qualifications: Degree in Social Work; registration with Social Work England.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in adult social care, including supervision of staff and complex case management.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, legislation, and local authority frameworks.
- Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
- Ability to mentor and develop staff while managing competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic social care systems.
- Full UK driving licence preferred (reasonable adjustments considered).
