Practice Development Manager

Lead on a specialist area within newly qualified social workers, social work students and adult apprentices. Coordinate the design and delivery of programmes and implementation of resources to promote best practice.

Take responsibility for recruitment, retention, induction, workshops and observations, providing feedback for critical reflection and learning.

Support the development and career progression of students and practitioners, enhancing their knowledge, skills, values and practice.

Promote professional development, creating a robust learning culture that delivers high‑quality practice and effective outcomes for adults, carers and families.

Uphold professional standards set by Medway Council, Social Work Post‑Qualifying Standards, the Professional Capability Framework and Social Work England.

Act as an active change agent, driving improvements in practice standards and delivering the Medway ASC vision alongside the Care Quality Commission commitment to safe, effective, compassionate, high‑quality care.

Embed strengths‑based practice, maximizing individual autonomy, independence and healthier lives through training and learning opportunities.

Contribute to a comprehensive Quality Assurance framework across the service, auditing activities, analysing findings and fostering a learning culture across adults.

Engage the voice of practitioners, adults, carers and families, tailoring experiences and outcomes, reducing inequalities and enhancing equality for all cultural and protected characteristics.

Collaborate with partner agencies, communities and wider systems, ensuring a diverse, flexible joined‑up approach embedded within practice.

Challenge across the service where appropriate to keep practice focused on the adult, and support policy development across Adult Social Care.
