Join our client’s Private Sector Housing team in a permanent role supporting inspections, enforcement and housing adaptations. Ideal for those experienced in HHSRS, HMOs or DFG processes, offering a meaningful position improving housing standards across the community.
Housing Officer
Permanent, full-time
Annual Salary: £31,283 per annum

Our client is looking for a committed Housing Officer to join their Private Sector Housing service. This role focuses on improving housing conditions, supporting residents and ensuring properties meet statutory and local standards. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about safe, high‑quality homes.
What you’ll do
* Investigate reports of poor housing conditions
* Carry out inspections using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
* Inspect HMOs for licensing and management regulation compliance
* Prepare letters, notices and schedules of required work
* Use enforcement powers to reduce or remove Category 1 and 2 hazards
* Guide landlords, tenants and owners on property standards
* Serve and monitor legal notices and prepare offence reports when required
* Visit homes to support the adaptation process
* Give technical advice on the feasibility of adaptations
* Assist with managing Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and adaptation funding
* Work with colleagues to offer options such as adaptations, alternative accommodation and funding routes
* Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders while promoting the client’s values
