Job Summary
You will be fulfilling both design engineering and documentation control functions. You will have a good understanding of engineering drawing and drawing office practices, matched with a wide knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering materials. The ability to adapt and apply proven principles and formulas to engineering problems is vital.
You will work Monday-Thursday with week 1 Friday off and week 2 Friday working 4 hours. The working hours are flexible starting between 07:00-09:00 and finishing between 16:15-18:15 Monday-Thursday, same start time on the Friday worked but finishing between 11:00-13:00.
Responsibilities- Using Solid Works 3D package. Design and develop sheet metal designs
- Using Driveworks 3D package to maintain and improve existing programs, and to develop new programs for existing and new products within the business.
- Produce detail manufacturing documentation using 2 and 3D CAD. Consult with peers to resolve design or general drawing office problems.
- Able to design electrical systems (simple) including component planning and selection. Hazardous area experience would be an advantage.
- Review and analyse specifications, standards, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting a design
- Occasional FEA and Flow in 3D cad and analyse results.
- Modify and revise existing designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems and cost.
- Creating Parts and Boms Inside a MRP system.
- Co‑operation with colleagues to support the business needs
- Carry out other tasks as requested by management.
- A proven track record working with sheet metal in Solid Works is essential
- Minimum 5 years mechanical drawing & design experience (which can include time spent at university)
- 5 GCSE's (A-C) must include English, Maths and a Maths based Science subject
- Minimum HNC qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline
- The ability to identify and solve engineering problem before they reach the end customers
- Good written and spoken communication skills
- Proven knowledge of engineering materials and processes
- Able to work with one or more people/teams
- Proven problem solving skills and strong attention to detail and clarity
- Project leadership skills
- Good organisation skills
- 22.5 days holiday plus Bank Holidays
- Every other Friday off. The Friday you do work is a half day
