Haz Mat Field Driver – AZ - CANADA (Republic Services)
Position Summary:
The Haz Mat Field Driver/Technician will be responsible for transporting various waste streams to designated generator sites safely and properly. Operate Straight Trucks (box trucks) and Tractor‑Trailers to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non‑hazardous waste, performing a variety of duties in compliance with government regulations and procedures.
- Operate trucks including roll‑offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor‑trailers, box trucks, etc.
- Perform LTL (less than load) pickups.
- Maintain driver documents such as logbook, quarterly permit book, trip reports, waste manifests, etc.
- Ensure accurate placarding, load securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.
- Understand and comply with state weight limit laws.
- Maintain company equipment.
- Utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and assigned software.
- Perform DOT/MOT pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections.
- Interact and communicate effectively with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Process hazardous and non‑hazardous materials as needed.
- Assist in maintaining good housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds.
- Participate in Site Safety program and required training.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Skilled in using hand and shop tools and instruments.
- Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple diverse responsibilities.
- Class AZ commercial driver’s license required with hazardous material and tanker endorsements, or the ability to obtain endorsements within 90 days from hire date.
