The Person al Trainer is responsible for assisting clients in evaluating and establishing individual fitness/wellness goals, and the design and execution of a customized training plan to achieve those goals.

  • Assists clients in establishing fitness/wellness goals and develops a customized training plan to achieve those goals.
  • Conducts fitness assessments to establish client fitness and skill level.
  • Monitors individual performance towards goals and modifies training plan if needed.
  • Provides guidance in proper exercise techniques and safe, proper use of exercise equipment.
  • Provides encouragement and expertise and motivates clients by serving as a training partner.
  • Adjusts work schedule as needed to accommodate the needs of clients; hours may require afternoons, evenings and some weekends.
  • Tracks customer visits, payments and reports training hours.
  • Maintains client files per industry standards.
  • Assists with marketing to increase client base.
  • Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Education and Experience

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • A minimum of one year experience as a personal trainer

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Nationally Accredited Personal Training Certification such as:
      • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
      • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
      • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
      • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
      • National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA)
      • Or other nationally recognized organization
    • Current American Red Cross (ARC) CPR/AED & First Aid Certification, or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire
    • Knowledge of exercise physiology, kinesiology and anatomy, injury prevention and rehabilitation
    • Full understanding of operational capacity of all exercise equipment and proper, safe usage
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate others to achieve their health/wellness goals
    • Interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability and desire to instruct and teach individuals one-on-one
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Flexible and adaptive, capable of adapting teaching style to clients of varying ages and abilities
    • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity

    • Evaluate, plan and instruct
    • Attention to safety standards, procedures, and practices

    Physical Environment

    • Standing and movement for up to 60 min. at a time
    • Bending, sitting, stopping, squatting, walking, and running
    • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.
    • Approximately 80% demonstration, 20% doing
