Lab Scientist - Cell Culture and Development Job Description
This position combines hands‑on laboratory execution with strong documentation and traceability expectations. You will collaborate closely with an experienced scientist, becoming a key contributor to tissue culture maintenance, cell line development activities, and early pipeline work.
Responsibilities- Execute daily lab responsibilities on‑time and in alignment with SOPs, quality standards, and due dates.
- Independently perform mammalian cell culture preparation and maintenance using strong aseptic technique.
- Conduct media changes, culture inspection, and upkeep of CHO‑related processes.
- Perform molecular and analytical lab tasks such as transfection and fluorescence/microscopic analysis.
- Use instruments to evaluate antibody expression or concentration.
- Support selection and storage of candidate cell lines.
- Maintain compliant records and ensure full traceability of materials, actions, and results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment; elevate issues appropriately.
- Partner cross‑functionally to troubleshoot issues while maintaining a strong focus on quality and compliance.
- Support downstream exposure opportunities as training progresses.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field.
- 1+ years of relevant mammalian cell culture experience (strong academic and applicable lab experience may be considered if GDP expectations are understood).
- Experience in a GMP/GDP production or regulated lab environment.
- Strong aseptic technique.
- Laboratory equipment operation/maintenance experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- CHO experience.
- Experience with bioreactor systems (stir tanks and/or perfusion).
- Pipeline production experience (upstream to downstream exposure).
- Comfort working in environments with strict documentation expectations.
The role involves working closely with another scientist in the lab. The CHO process is a 7‑day/week operation, requiring some weekend work. The position follows a Monday‑Friday, 1st shift schedule, with a rotation every other weekend with the other scientist in the lab.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chaska, MN.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 – $30.00/hr.
