Engineer II, Manufacturing (2nd Shift - $3,000 Sign‑On Bonus) – Chaska, MN (On‑Site Mon‑Fri)

Pay Range

$87,750 – $115,000 per year + Shift Differential. Pay decisions are free from bias and based on objective criteria.

Position Profile

The Production Engineer is primarily responsible for the technical management, maintenance and development of new and existing production lines, supporting Marotta Controls’ manufacturing and operational goals. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining methods, operation sequences, test equipment, and processes that ensure equipment capacity meets customer demand. The Production Engineer also implements process improvements based on improved yield results, participates in defect reduction activities and lean initiatives.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in design and manufacturing of electric motors
  • 2+ years of related experience in a production/operations environment
  • Working knowledge of electric motors and their components, processes and techniques for manufacturing, and equipment and methods for testing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for multi‑faced interactions at all levels, including outside agents
  • Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Key Responsibilities
  • Create new tooling/fixturing and processes/procedures for the introduction of new motors and/or the improvement of existing motors
  • Develop and maintain testing policies, procedures and performance metrics to achieve targeted manufacturing objectives
  • Implement machining, part creation/fabrication and measurement techniques, using GD&T best practices to assure compliance
  • Investigate, assess and resolve production issues effectively
  • Implement improvements to current operations to improve efficiency
  • Communicate with suppliers to procure necessary tooling, fixtures and equipment
  • Create assemble and test procedures for production hardware
  • Analyze layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and workforce utilization to maximize efficiency
  • Contribute to operations function to meet design requirements by using manufacturing tools and equipment
  • Design detailed assembly procedures and tooling
  • Generate procedures from industry and aerospace specifications
  • Design test fixtures
  • Communicate designs and design intent with team members and suppliers
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles for tool/fixture design, material selection, facility layout, cost estimates, DFM concepts, GT&D practices, shop documentation, root‑cause investigations, troubleshooting, performance metrics and operations
  • Secure external resources (subcontracted services) to maintain equipment operational
  • Perform all practices related to manufacturing engineering in a manner supporting commonality, standardization (where applicable), first‑material yield and safe/best industry practices
  • Create, maintain and refine detailed manufacturing documentation (operating sheets, routers, set‑up/tooling sheets, etc.) through effective selection of methods and inspection point selection
  • Generate, optimize, validate and maintain CNC programs through effective use of CAD/CAM software
  • Design efficient/safe tools and fixtures for electric motor manufacturing and operations
  • Generate accurate estimates (setup, cycle time, material, etc.) using cost‑effective manufacturing methods
  • Define, monitor and communicate performance metrics to management; implement actions to resolve identified issues
  • Effective communication of issues in a timely manner to all affected parties
  • Contribute to a positive, cooperative and safe work environment through effective communication at all levels
  • Participate in root‑cause investigations, troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives/programs
