Licensing Specialist FTE Chanhassen

Overview

The Chanhassen Service Center is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Licensing Specialist to join our team. Under the direction of the License Center Manager, the Licensing Specialist provides direct customer service in person at the drive-up window, face to face, and by telephone to a diverse customer base. This position evaluates and reviews documents for possible fraud, prepares and processes Minnesota  driver s license applications, renews registrations, completes title transfers for motor vehicles, issues game and fish licenses, and processes renewals and transfers for the Department of Natural Resources.

The Licensing Specialist also responds to public inquiries and requests for information in a proficient and accurate manner as governed by the State of MN and the US Dept of State. This role delivers exceptional service to the public.

• Evaluate, prepare, and process motor vehicle titles and registration applications to determine fees to be collected.
• Analyze and process Driver s License and Minnesota  applications.
• Respond to public inquiries and requests for information in person and by telephone.
• Evaluate, prepare, and process Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recreational vehicle titles and registrations.
• Process game and fish licenses.
• Reconcile and complete motor vehicle, driver s license reports to state departments.
• Perform other comparable duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or GED and two (2) years related work experience in a high-volume customer service position
• Associates Degree and one (1) year related work experience in a high-volume customer service position
• Must be able to prove US Citizenship
• Must be able to pass a BCA background check (Driver s License staff only)
• Must test and become a  Certified Title and Registration Professional  by the State of Minnesota DVS within 18 months of starting employment; certification must be kept current while employed
• Valid driver s license or evidence of equivalent mobility

• In-depth knowledge of Minnesota DVS, Department of Public Safety, Department of Natural Resources, and US State Department procedures related to motor vehicle titling and registration, driver s licenses, boat licensing and registration, snowmobile licensing, passports, and game and fish licenses.
• Experience with computer hardware and IBM-compatible software, and routine office equipment.

All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection will include successful completion of oral interviews and a background investigation, including fingerprinting.
