Millwright

The Maintenance Tradesperson - Millwright reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for both the maintenance and repair of hospital mechanical systems, equipment and furnishings within Health PEI at QEH, Four Neighborhoods & Palliative Care.

Duties will include:

• Design, fabricate, install, modify, repair, relocate or remove mechanical equipment;
• Safe lifting/moving of equipment using rigging, tractors, forklifts or other means available;
• Maintain and repair yard equipment;
• Prioritize work, as necessary;
• Assist in development of construction and work plans’
• Refer to blueprints, schematics, specifications and technical info;
• Work with other trades and outside agencies on projects, diagnostics and repairs;
• Provide technical and mechanical support to maintenance, boiler plant and biomedical staff;
• Obtain part and supplies, as required;
• Supervise one or more staff while performing specific jobs, as required;
• Maintain shop tools and equipment;
• Perform housekeeping of work spaces;
• Adhere to safe work practices, following Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and applicable safety codes;
• Perform other related duties as required.
• Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair on the following but not limited to:
  Provincial Laundry Equipment including Washers, Dryers, Folding machines, Scale and lift systems, Feeders, Stackers, Rail system, Shuttle, Sorting conveyor, Label iron, compactor;
• Perform maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair of sterilization equipment including sterilizers, cart washers, etc. Kitchen Equipment, Air Handling Units and Components
• Maintenance and repair of tractors, blowers, salt spreaders, etc. as well as various other pieces of equipment throughout the Facilities;
• Welding – Stainless Steel, stainless steel with mig, tig, spot, SMAW, braze, solder, cast iron, aluminum, alloys
• Machining;
  Lathe, Mill, Press, Brake, Roller;
• Working with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and diagnostics;
• Other related duties as required by manager

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have successfully completed of Grade 12;
• Must hold a valid "Certificate of Qualification” as issued by the Province of Price Edward Island in Millwright (Industrial Mechanics);
• Must be capable of sustained physical activity.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must have good previous work and attendance records.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints and project specifications.
• Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.

Salary Range: $38.86 per hour

Bi-Weekly Hours: 75 Hours Bi-Weekly / Days, Evenings, Weekends and Stat Holidays
