JAUNT is hiring for full‑time NON‑CDL Bus Operators.
NO CDL REQUIRED, BUT MUST OBTAIN WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE
Jaunt’s operators operate transit service vehicles—including transit vans and 28‑passenger buses—serving Charlottesville City and Albemarle County as well as Nelson, Greene, Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Louisa Counties. Operators are responsible for the safety of customers and equipment, perform routine inspections, communicate with customers and supervisors, and provide outstanding service while arriving on time and working independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities- Operate a transit vehicle to pick up, transport, and discharge passengers while adhering to the route schedule.
- Maintain a pleasant and courteous demeanor.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections for mechanical problems.
- Maintain radio contact with dispatchers to report vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or service interruptions.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and observe the operator dress code (safety vest, Jaunt shirt).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A valid Virginia driver’s license with a positive point balance.
- Ability to operate the vehicle under the safest possible conditions.
- Ability to successfully complete a 4‑week operator training course.
- Ability to use good judgement and common sense to make quick, safe decisions with minimal supervision and adapt to constantly changing operating conditions.
- Ability to listen, understand, and carry out instructions presented verbally or electronically by dispatchers or road supervisors.
- $500.00 once training is completed.
- $500.00 six months after hire.
- $500.00 after one year of successful employment.
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre‑employment drug screen, maintaining a clean driving record covered by Jaunt’s insurance, and adherence to Jaunt’s Substance Abuse Policy. Continued employment requires a clean driving record.

Salary: $21.84 - $28.39 per hour.
