Personal Trainer; Wage

Overview

UVA Recreation, a division within Virginia Athletics, at the University of Virginia, is seeking qualified applicants for Personal Trainer. These are part-time, wage positions with the primary purpose of directly leading personal training sessions with clients to meet the fitness interests and demands of the University community (students, faculty, staff and UVa affiliates).

• Administer fitness assessments and/or consultations.
• Design and lead personal training sessions in an individual or group setting.
• Engage with students and members in activities that promote fitness and wellness, identify needs for modifications for participant safety, and demonstrate modifications.
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions.
• Establish a positive rapport with student and departmental staff, members, and guests, and promote exceptional customer service to create a positive environment. Maintain a Standard of Excellence in professionalism and safety.

Position Compensation Range: $20.00 - $32.00 Hourly. This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year.

• Nationally recognized personal training certification such as ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA, etc. is required.
• Experience administering fitness assessments and/or consultations.
• Experience designing and leading personal training sessions in an individual or group setting.
• Ability to fully engage with students and members in vibrant activities that promote fitness and wellness.
• For participant safety, ability to identify the need for modifying movements and communicating and demonstrating these modifications to participants.
• Availability to consistently work with a number of clients per semester.
• Exemplary customer service and communication skills.
• Must be able to attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions.
