Overhead Distribution Groundperson

A skilled position with prior performance that understands the install and repair process for overhead distribution and transmission systems, which includes poles, cables, and electrical systems.

• Perform new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead line work following company established Safety and Health standards from the ground.
• Assemble material on the ground to be installed by the line person or apprentice.
• Problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
• Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
• Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Excavate to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
• Communicate professionally with public and private property owners about work to be performed.
• Participate in company training of all regional safety guidelines and perform all work by the regional safety policies.
• Operate various tools for the job (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come‑along, jack hammer and hand‑line, etc.).
• Perform any other duties as required or requested by supervisors.
• Report all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to foreperson.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment.
  
  Must be able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc.

• Provide proof of work experience, schooling, and other certifications obtained during career.

• Upon offer employees may be required to complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background and/or MVR check.

• Driver License required; willingness to obtain a valid CDL within 90 days of employment preferred.

• Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.

• RARE (less than 10%):
  Sitting, Crawling, and Climbing Poles
• OCCASIONAL (up to 33%):
  Stooping, Kneeling, Squatting, Body Twisting, Sense of Touch, Range of Motion, Pushing, Climbing Ladders, Climbing Stairs, Balancing, and Lifting up to 50 lbs.
• FREQUENT (up to 66%):
  Walking, Manual Dexterity, Seeing Distant, Climbing On/Off Truck, Gripping, Lifting 10–50 lbs, Reaching, Depth Perception, Carrying, Pulling.
• CONTINUOUS (up to 100%):
  Standing, Speaking Clearly, Seeing, Hearing‑Speech Range, Color Vision, Lifting up to 10 lbs.
