Security Officer – FOP MC (Health System Shared Services | Security)
ResponsibilitiesSecurity Officers perform a variety of functions in the range of their duties on a daily basis including customer service, patrol, conflict resolution, investigation, and emergency response. They routinely patrol all areas of the medical center facility and communicate any noticed discrepancies to the affected or responsible persons, are fluent with the floor plan and critical pathways to provide directional assistance to guests and quickly respond during emergencies.
Officers use empathy and assertiveness in conflict resolution and crisis intervention and may engage in physical intervention using minimum force necessary. They conduct initial investigations and reports on significant incidents and must be proficient with written and verbal communication. Officers are first responders to nearly all emergencies, must have knowledge of basic first aid, CPR, and AED functionality and deployment, and be familiar with the medical center’s emergency response protocol to assist staff, patients and visitors.
They support the Security Department mission to provide a safe and secure environment for all patients, staff and visitors.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; certification or vocational training may be preferred.
- 1 year of relevant experience required; 2‑4 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License and must serve a 12‑month probationary period from date of employment.
- Selected candidate is subject to successful completion of a psychological evaluation, background check, drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
