Restaurant Front of House / Events Manager
Pay: $55,000.00 per year

Full-Time (40+ hours per week)
Primarily Tuesday – Saturday afternoon/evening, Sunday & Monday as needed
Seeking a dynamic and energetic manager with a working understanding of restaurant FOH operations, a passion for the Charlottesville community, and the drive to enhance a fun and dynamic destination. You will collaborate with the restaurant owner/general manager, kitchen manager, and lead staff to uphold the restaurant’s mission, vision, and values. A positive attitude, initiative, experience with leading a team, and events management are crucial to this role.
This hands‑on leadership position is ideal for someone with a strong background in FOH operations who is equally comfortable managing workflows and jumping in wherever needed - this includes everything from rolling silverware to washing dishes!
In addition, this job requires extensive time on the computer, and excellent written communication skills are a must. You will use a company‑provided laptop to create staff schedules, update event planning documents, write marketing copy, and respond to emails. Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation are a must. Basic knowledge of Google Drive, social media applications, and design programs like Canva are preferred.

Main Responsibilities
:
Front of House Operations:
- Oversee day‑to‑day FOH operations
- Become familiar with FIREFLY’s current FOH Operations Guide and ensure all staff are following it accordingly.
- Manage the recruitment, hiring, training, and development of FOH staff.
- Schedule work shifts for FOH staff, including regularly scheduling yourself to assist on the floor during peak hours, as well as covering shifts if FOH staff call‑out.
- Create a team environment that is fun and enjoyable for staff, while also promoting a strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and customer‑focus
- Understand bar operations/beverage COGS and work with the Restaurant Owner/GM to manage FOH/bar inventory, supplies, & ordering.
- Set regular cleaning & maintenance procedures for all areas of the FOH and all bar equipment. Verify that staff are maintaining these standards through personal inspection.
- Maintain printed menus and update online ordering platforms as needed
Customer
Experience:
- Deliver superior service and create a warm and welcoming environment by touching tables and getting to know our guests
- Greet guests, manage reservations, oversee seating, and ensure prompt, excellent service, addressing any concerns immediately
- Work with the Kitchen Manager and BOH staff to ensure food is prepared properly prior to serving, swiftly resolving issues.
- Ensure the arcade games are operational and board games kept organized
Event/Reservation Management:
- Respond to reservation requests via phone/email/social media.
- Coordinate all aspects of public and private restaurant events, including the planning, implementation, & evaluation.
- Prioritize events that will make a lasting impact in our community with a strong focus on events for the LGBTQIA+ community
- Maintain the FOH/BOH event binders with relevant event notes and ensure all staff are aware of upcoming events.
- Collaborate with the Kitchen Manager to maintain/update our catering menu and create event specific food specials as needed.
- Maintain a regular event schedule and promote upcoming events to customers through printed event calendars, social media, and newsletters
- Utilize Square to create twice monthly e‑newsletters to market events
- Coordinate schedule and organize reception for rotating local artist display
- Collaborate with all team members to ensure smooth operations overall.
- Other duties as assigned.
