Overview
These roles involve conducting experiments and analyses in laboratory settings to investigate scientific questions in biology, chemistry, and physics. Laboratory researchers design and execute experiments, collect data, and collaborate with scientists to advance understanding of fundamental and applied research. The Department of Neurology is seeking a Lab and Research Technician to support the lab of Francesco Michelassi, MD, PhD. The lab and research technician will assist in characterizing mouse models of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and will perform behavioral testing, drug administration (tail vein injection, oral gavage, intraperitoneal injection, etc.),
tissue dissection, routine genotyping and crosses, immunohistochemistry, and primary cell culture. Providing routine, technical, and administrative support for research projects is expected.
- Perform behavioral testing and drug administration in animal models.
- Dissect tissues, conduct routine genotyping and crosses, and perform immunohistochemistry and primary cell culture.
- Provide routine, technical, and administrative support for research projects.
- Strong interest in translational research within neurology.
- Experience in experimental design, data assessment/interpretation, scientific presentation, and scholarly writing.

- Education:
Associate's degree required; may accept an equivalent combination of experience, education, certification in lieu of degree. - Experience:
2+ years of lab experience (may include student experience).

Bachelor's degree required; may accept a combination of experience/education/certification in lieu of degree. - Experience:
1+ year of relevant lab experience required.
- Education:
This position may require extensive periods of standing and squatting during experiments or animal care, along with keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring fine finger manipulation.
