We are seeking experienced nurses to join our team as an Assistant Nurse Manager who will support the Nurse Manager in administrative duties, especially during off shifts, and provide leadership by collaborating with the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
The role participates in organizational and unit-based quality improvement activities and contributes to standards of care. The Assistant Nurse Manager must provide patient care as needed and maintain clinical competencies with potential weekly patient care shift assignments.

Responsibilities- Supervises care by maintaining high visibility to patients, families, and staff in the clinical areas.
- Share accountability with the manager for unit/department/organizational goals, including patient experience, team member engagement, and continuous process improvement.
- Staff management to include recruitment, retention, coaching, training, evaluation, development, and preparation/delegation of work schedules and workflows.
- Under supervision from the manager, participates in basic human resource functions.
- Provides managerial support as required; develops, implements, and participates in quality improvement activities. Works with health care team to improve patient care outcomes.
- Provides leadership and serves as a resource in patient care and unit activities; assists staff in problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Maintains records pertaining to staff competency, quality audits, and related records.
- Serves as a professional role model, coach, and resource for employees; participates in nursing/hospital committees and shared governance development.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth.
- Other duties may be assigned in addition to above responsibilities.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. - Experience: At least two years’ experience as a registered nurse.
- Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps), and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull over 100 lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
Compensation and BenefitsThe starting base rate for this role is $ annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, and/or education.
