The 10-bed Coronary Care Unit provides care for patients with myocardial infarction, rhythm disturbances, decompensated heart failure, and post-resuscitation from cardiac arrest. The unit uses advanced technology and has a high level of specialty certification among nurses.
Responsibilities- Join UVA Health University Medical Center as a dedicated Registered Nurse.
- Integrate the ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics with UVA Nursing Practice Model.
- Relate to patients and families through Relationship Based Care and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide effective direct care for complex patients.
- Demonstrate expert caring: clinical assessment, planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and implementing care.
- Engage in feedback for improved clinical practice; assume a beginning leadership role with mentoring support.
- Participate in the Clinical Career Ladder (CCL) to develop aligned with personal goals.
- Contribute to professional development, onboarding of new team members, and precept as applicable.
- Adhere to clinical documentation guidelines, engage in performance improvement activities, and support standard work.
- Contribute to innovation by applying technologies and evidence-based practice and leveraging nursing research.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. - Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
- Licensure/
Certifications:
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia;
American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods; frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/bodily fluids and infectious disease.
CompensationThe starting base rate for this role is $39.90 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
Onboarding & BackgroundBackground checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
