Overview
The Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU) is a 15 bed inpatient critical care unit supporting our Level 1 trauma center by serving adult patients with multisystem injuries. The STICU is a fast paced unit serving critically ill adult patient populations including post-operative patients from many surgical specialties (colorectal, liver, pancreas, plastic surgery, urology, ortho-spine, hepatobiliary, general surgery).

Job duties and responsibilities include integrating the ANA Nursing:
Scope and Standards of Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, and the UVA Nursing Professional Practice Model.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. - Experience:
1 year of relevant experience. - Licensure/
Certifications:
Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
CompensationThe starting base rate for this role is $39.90 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
Onboarding RequirementsBackground checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
